Rome is the capital city of Italy. This is the fourth most populated city in European continent with an area of (496.1 sq.mi). Rome is situated along the banks of river Tiber. The Vatican City is an independent country inside the boundaries of Rome, the only example of a country within a city. For this reason, Rome has been often defined as the capital of two states. Rome has the status of a global city. In 2016 Rome stands in 14th position as most visited city in the world, 3rd most visited place in the European Union, and the most popular tourist attraction in Italy. This city hosts the headquarters of many international business companies, such as Eni, Enel, TIM and national and international banks such as Unicredit and BNL. Its business district, called EUR, is the base of many companies involved in the oil industry, the pharmaceutical industry and financial services. Rome is also an important fashion and design center for international brands such as Fendi, Bulgari, Renato Balestra, Valentino, Laura Biagiotti. Rome has a Mediterranean climate with cool, humid winters and warm, dry summers. The coldest months are December, January, February. The warmest months are July and August.
